Rain on a City Street
Rain steadily drizzled onto the city street, the large drops pattering across cement and asphalt, and the umbrella held aloft in Moxie's hand. She stood against the nearest building, waiting for her partner in crime who was still inside.
Despite the thunder rolling in the distance and the wet streets, the city still had a gentle pulse, undeterred by the weather. Cars drove by as people made their way to work, others walked the sidewalk as they did their shopping, and in the overhangs above business entries pigeons ruffled their feathers in an effort to stay dry.
Moxie shifted her weight when Lillian approached, so that they could both stay dry beneath the shared umbrella. Her friend had something clutched against her chest as she dashed outside and to the safety of cover. Lillian shook the rain off of her hair and then smiled broadly as revealed her prize.
"We might just have a break in the case," she exclaimed.
Moxie grinned at the prospect. "About time!"
